Do you know how to warm up before your ride?

If you’ve been following me for a while, you will know that I mention dynamic warm ups a lot! All my programs incorporate dynamic warm ups and I am a big believer that you should do these before riding and working out!

A dynamic warm up is a series of active movements that prepare the body for physical activity. It typically includes exercises that increase heart rate, activate key muscle groups, improve mobility, and enhance coordination. Dynamic warm-up is important because it helps to increase blood flow, raise body temperature, loosen up muscles, and improve range of motion. It also reduces the risk of injury, enhances performance, and mentally prepares you for your ride or workout!

Doing dynamic warm ups before your ride can significantly impact the way your body moves and the way it execute aids during your ride!

When we were kids in P.E. class, we were always taught to do static stretches before physical activity, where you hold a stretch for an extended period. But this is actually not recommended as it can temporarily decrease muscle strength and power, which can negatively impact performance!

Static stretches also don’t help increase heart rate and prepare your muscles for physical activity, so leave static stretches as a cool down after you are done with your ride or workout!
